Message “Beat it Satan!”
Litany of Response
One: God gives us lives of promise, and pulls for us every day. God knows we’ll make mistakes and we’ll be tempted to rely on ourselves or on one type or another of false god.
Many: When we remember whose we are and how we got here, we can live up to our promise. We can say, “Beat it, Satan!”
One: We can go from bones turned to powder and daylong groans to lives of joy and clear consciences.
Many: God-defiers are always in trouble; God-affirmers find themselves loved every time they turn around.
One: We are tempted on every side, by desires for things, for magic and for power over others.
Many: Jesus already knows what that feels like. He knows our temptations; he knows our fears.
One: Jesus was tempted, and relied on God’s presence through scripture to answer Satan.
Many: When we rely on a steady stream of God’s Word, when we give our temptations to Jesus, we can all say,
All: “Beat it, Satan!”
