Call to Confession
Confession
God of compassion, we know that you are always
seeking us. We know that you can name all our
brokenness: the ways that we have been wounded and
diminished, the ways that we bruise ourselves and
others. Come and break the shackles of our complicity
and fear, that we may find the face of Jesus in everyone,
even in those who are cast off as lost, and lead your
church into those places where Jesus’ ministry is most
needed. We pray with confidence, because of Christ,
Amen.

Litany of Response
One:By entering through faith into what God has always
wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit
for him—we have it all together with God because of our
Master Jesus.
Many: The whole story is, like the Woman at the well,
who was sought by Jesus in spite of their differences,
as we throw open our door, we’ll discover at that
same moment, that God has already thrown open the
door to us.
One: Now that we are set right with God by means of
this sacrificial death, the consummate blood sacrifice,
there is no longer a question of being at odds with God
in any way.
Many: The whole story is, Jesus presented himself for
this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and
rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready.
One: We can understand someone dying for a person
worth dying for, and we can understand how someone
good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice.
Many: The whole story is, God put love on the line for
us by offering Jesus, God’s Son, in sacrificial death
while we were of no use whatever to him.
All :Now that we have actually received this amazing
friendship with God as a gift, we can be glad that
God did not pass us by. For that we can sing praise!
And that’s the whole story!
