Call to Confession
Confession
God of mercy, you sent Jesus Christ to seek and save the lost. We confess that we have strayed from you and turned aside from your way. We have failed in love, neglected justice, and ignored your truth. Have mercy, O God, and forgive our sin. Return us to paths of righteousness that we may find the face of Jesus in everyone, even in those who are cast off as lost, and lead your church into those places where Jesus’ ministry is most needed. We pray with confidence, because of Christ, Amen.

One: Jesus, remember us when you come into your kingdom. Hear our intercessions. For your church around the world,
Many: We ask new life.
One: For all who carry out ministries in your church.
Many: We ask grace and wisdom.
One: For people who have accepted spiritual disciplines,
Many: We ask inspired discipleship.
One: For Christians of every land,
Many: We ask new unity in your name.
One: For Jews and Muslims and people of other faiths,
Many: We ask your divine blessing.
One: For those who cannot believe,
Many: We ask your faithful love.
One: For leaders and rules in every land,
Many: We ask your guidance.
One: For people who suffer and sorrow,
All: We ask your healing peace.
One: Holy God, your Word, Jesus Christ, spoke peace to a sinful world and brought humanity the gift of reconciliation by the suffering and death he endured. Teach those who bear his name to follow his example. May our faith, hope, and charity turn hatred to love, conflict to peace and death to eternal life, through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
