Discipleship
After six months worshiping together, the core group of altworship are discussing ways to
Be disciples and Make disciples
We agree that to inspire or invite others to be disciples — what we mean by “making disciples” — we must first be disciples ourselves. Just showing up on Sunday evenings is a start. Providing music, designing fliers, helping print/fold bulletins, bringing refreshments are all contributions. But disciples of Jesus do much more.
Our first outward project begins next week (June 29):
Sharing PB&J along with the gospel. After altworship, when we go downstairs for refreshments, we will take bread, peanut butter and jelly and make sandwiches. Everyone will make one or more sandwiches to share with other needy folks in the neighborhood. Each person who needs an extra meal will keep one sandwich for him/herself and take others to share. As always, leftover refreshments — grapes, cookies, communion bread, etc. — will be given to the hungry among us.
altworship regulars who can afford it are encouraged to bring bread, peanut butter and jelly. We’ll freeze or refrigerate what we don’t use on a given Sunday. You may volunteer to bring something by commenting below or by e-mailing altworship1@yahoo.com. Or just bring it.
If you have other ideas for increasing our discipleship, please comment below.
Peace,
